Sustainable Drainage

Overview

1.2_overview.jpgLEAP Environmental seek to provide the most cost effective and sustainable solutions for their clients to enable a successful and trusted relationship, which results in the right recommendations and decisions being made for any project.

Description

LEAP was appointed to undertake soakage tests in accordance with BRE365 within three existing soakaways at the former Training Centre. The project was undertaken to test the potential for re-use of the existing drainage infrastructure, and the need for further soakaways across the proposed development. The site is located on the former flood plain of the River Thames and is to be redeveloped with housing and flats. Soakaways can be used within fully sewered areas to limit the impact of new upstream building works on the existing sewer network and to avoid costs of sewer upgrading. They are a preferred sustainable option for means of stormwater control and disposal and therefore the reuse of the existing infrastructure soakaways was very desirable.

LEAP Solution

LEAP Environmental carried out these soakage tests quickly and effectively, and were therefore able to provide the client with sound recommendations for the use of a sustainable, cost effective solution for site drainage.
